This film tells the story of the Victory Arch, an enormous statue commissioned by Saddam Hussein. Built by British sculptors, it was designed to proclaim Saddam’s power, but within 15 years of its completion he’d been overthrown. What does it says about us as a country, that in one generation we can both build statues for leaders and hang them?

The project took 6 years and resulted in two finished pieces: a film installation and a narrative short.

Screening link available upon request.

The project resulted in two pieces.

A 15 minute film installation exhibited at
The Next Thing - The Bury Museum of Art
After School Special - The Bergen Kunsthall (Norway)

A narrative cut was completed in February 2022 and toured the festival circuit, including at the BAFTA Qualifying Aesthetica Film Festival
